2,5-Dimethoxyphenethylamine (2C-x)

The 2C-x compounds are a chemical class of organic compounds derived from the core phenethylamine structure. They are defined by two methoxy groups on the benzene ring at the 2- and 5-positions, with a variable substituent at the 4-position that gives each member its name (the "x"). The "2C" label refers to the two-carbon chain between the ring and the amino group, which is left unbranched, unlike the amphetamines, which add a methyl branch. Most 2C-x compounds are serotonergic psychedelics, and the corresponding alpha-methyl versions form the related DOx amphetamine series.
