2,5-Dimethoxyamphetamine (DOx)
Also classified under: α-Methylphenethylamine (amphetamines)
The DOx compounds are a chemical class of organic compounds derived from the core amphetamine and 2C-x structures, carrying the 2,5-dimethoxy substitution pattern on the benzene ring with a variable 4-position substituent. They are the alpha-methylated homologues of the 2C-x series, with the added methyl branch on the sidechain distinguishing them from those unbranched phenethylamines. Most DOx compounds are potent, long-acting serotonergic psychedelics acting at the 5-HT2A receptor. The alpha-methyl group is what separates them from the corresponding 2C compounds.
