3,5-Dimethoxyphenethylamine (scalines)

Scalines are a chemical class of organic compounds derived from the core phenethylamine structure, carrying methoxy groups at the 3- and 5-positions with a variable substituent at the 4-position. They are the mescaline analogues and are positional isomers of the 2C-x family, which instead places the methoxy groups at the 2- and 5-positions. Most scalines are serotonergic psychedelics. The 3,5-dimethoxy substitution pattern with an unbranched two-carbon chain is the defining feature of the class.
