N-Benzylphenethylamine (x-NBx)
The x-NBx compounds are a chemical class of organic compounds derived from the core phenethylamine structure, extended with a benzyl group on the amine nitrogen. This N-benzyl addition dramatically increases affinity at the serotonin 5-HT2A receptor, making the members potent psychedelics. The family divides according to the substituent on the benzyl ring, giving the NBOMe, NBOH, NBF, and related series. The N-benzyl arm attached to a 2,5-dimethoxyphenethylamine core is the shared structural feature of the class.
