Lysergamide

Lysergamides are a chemical class of organic compounds that are amides of lysergic acid, a complex four-ring fused ergoline structure containing an indole system embedded within additional rings, giving the molecule a rigid, locked geometry. The defining feature of the class is a carboxamide group at the ergoline 8-position, with individual members varying the amine groups on that amide. Most lysergamides are potent serotonergic psychedelics. Because the ergoline scaffold rigidly holds a tryptamine-like unit in place, lysergamides can be viewed as conformationally constrained relatives of the tryptamines.
