Arylcyclohexylamine

Arylcyclohexylamines are a chemical class of organic compounds built from a cyclohexane ring that carries two key groups on the same carbon, an aromatic aryl ring and an amine. The amine is often part of a second ring, such as a piperidine, or appears as a simple N-methylamino group, and members differ by the choice of aryl ring, the type of amine, and substituents added to the cyclohexane. Most arylcyclohexylamines act as dissociatives through antagonism of the NMDA receptor. The class is a structural cousin of the diarylethylamines, which achieve a similar layout using an open chain rather than a ring.
