Prazepam

Prazepam is federally controlled by exact name as a Schedule IV depressant under 21 C.F.R. § 1308.14(c)(51), under controlled-substance code 2764; the DEA also lists Centrax as another name. The classification has applied since December 17, 1976 and covers any material, compound, mixture, or preparation containing any quantity of prazepam, including its salts, isomers, and salts of isomers where chemically possible, unless specifically excepted or listed in another schedule. Federal law prohibits unauthorized possession, manufacture, distribution, dispensing, and possession with intent to manufacture, distribute, or dispense. The simple-possession prohibition does not apply when the substance was obtained directly or pursuant to a valid prescription or order from a practitioner acting in professional practice, or when possession is otherwise authorized. This federal classification does not establish the separate law of any state, the District of Columbia, territory, tribal jurisdiction, or locality.
