HXE
HXE (3-HO-2'-Oxo-PCE) is a novel dissociative substance of the arylcyclohexylamine class that produces ketamine-like effects. Structurally related to methoxetamine, ketamine, and PCE, it is distinguished by a hydroxy group on the phenyl ring in place of the methoxy group found in MXE.citation needed HXE first became available on the research chemical market in late 2020 after years of synthesis difficulties. Very limited data exists regarding its pharmacology, metabolism, and toxicity in humans.

HXE was tested as O-desmethyl methoxetamine in an ex vivo mouse brain-slice study. It dose-dependently blocked NMDA-evoked currents in dorsal cochlear nucleus cartwheel cells, with an IC50 of 0.227 mM (95% CI 0.196-0.304 mM), and suppressed NMDA-receptor-mediated excitatory synaptic transmission. This confirms NMDA-receptor antagonism in that experimental preparation; it does not establish human receptor occupancy, clinical potency, or human pharmacokinetics.1
