5-MeO-DALT is a lesser-known psychedelic of the tryptamine and 5-methoxytryptamine families. First synthesized and described by Alexander Shulgin, it was disclosed in 2004 and later encountered as a novel designer and recreational drug. This short-acting compound is structurally related to DALT and 5-MeO-DiPT but reportedly produces distinct effects. It typically occurs as an off-white powder and is taken orally or nasally. Reported dose-response patterns vary unusually widely, potentially reflecting misrepresented substances.

Geometry

The visual geometry that is present throughout the experience can be described as more similar in appearance to that of AMT than that of LSD, 2C-B or 2C-I. It can be comprehensively described as unstructured in its organization, synthetic in geometric style, intricate in complexity, small in size, slow and smooth in motion, colourful in scheme, glossy in colour, equally blurred and sharp in its edges and equally rounded and angular in its corners. They give off a synthetic feel to them that is less impressive than most of the "classical" psychedelics at any level. It has yet to be confirmed whether this compound results in either level 8A or level 8B at heavy doses.

Auditory

The auditory effects of 5-MeO-DALT are common in their occurrence and exhibit a full range of effects.

Pharmacology

Pharmacodynamics

5-MeO-DALT acts as a potent full agonist at the serotonin 5-HT1A and 5-HT2A receptors, with 5-HT2A activation implicated in its psychedelic-like activity. It also acts as an agonist at 5-HT2B and 5-HT2C receptors and inhibits dopamine and serotonin reuptake through DAT and SERT. Binding has additionally been reported at several other serotonin, adrenergic, histamine, opioid, and sigma receptors, suggesting that multiple targets may contribute to its overall pharmacological profile.

5-MeO-DALT does not appear in the schedules of the 1961 Single Convention or the 1971 Convention on Psychotropic Substances, or in the precursor tables of the 1988 Convention. It is therefore not internationally scheduled under those conventions.
