Quinazolinone
Quinazolinones are a chemical class of organic compounds derived from the benzamide family, consisting of bicyclic ketone-bearing heterocycles in which a benzene ring is fused to a nitrogen-containing pyrimidinone ring. Members differ by substituents on the ring nitrogens and the aromatic ring. They act as sedative-hypnotics, producing effects broadly similar to the benzodiazepines despite being chemically unrelated to them. The fused ketone-bearing bicyclic core is the defining structural feature of the class.
