Chemical Class

Fladrafinil (developmental code name CRL-40,941) is a wakefulness-promoting agent chemically related to modafinil and adrafinil, of which it is the bis(4-fluoro) phenyl ring-substituted derivative. Apparently first patented in the 1980s, it was never marketed and is instead sold online and used non-medically as a nootropic. In animals it produces antiaggressive effects that adrafinil does not, reportedly with three to four times the potency.

Legacy content. A statistically backed ontology from Mindstate Design Labs is coming soon.

Fladrafinil is used non-medically as a wakefulness-promoting agent and purported cognitive enhancer. The available material describes it only in these general terms and does not document the character or course of the subjective experience.

Pharmacology

Pharmacodynamics

Fladrafinil is a wakefulness-promoting agent related to modafinil. Modafinil and its analogues are known to act as dopamine reuptake inhibitors, and this is thought to be involved in their wakefulness-promoting effects. Fladrafinil has been found to produce antiaggressive effects in animals, which adrafinil does not produce, and is purportedly 3 to 4 times more potent than adrafinil in this action.

Pharmacokinetics

The pharmacokinetics of fladrafinil are being studied.
