Thiopropamine

Thiopropamines are a chemical class of organic compounds derived from the core amphetamine structure in which the benzene ring is replaced by a thiophene ring, a five-membered sulfur-containing aromatic ring. The sulfur-for-carbon ring swap is a classic bioisosteric substitution, leaving the alpha-methyl amine sidechain otherwise intact. Members act as stimulants, behaving much like their amphetamine counterparts. The thiophene ring in place of a benzene ring is the single feature that defines the class.
