Bromantane

Bromantane, listed as Bromantan in class S6.A of the 2026 Prohibited List, is a stimulant prohibited in competition. Under AntiDopG § 2(1)–(2), its manufacture, trade, sale, supply, placing on the market, prescription, and administration are prohibited when carried out for doping in human sport or for doping another person in sport. Without medical indication, self-administration for an advantage in organized-sport competition and acquisition or possession for that purpose are prohibited under § 3, subject to the outside-competition exception applicable because Bromantan is prohibited only in competition. These restrictions are sport-specific and do not establish a general prohibition on possession outside the AntiDopG conditions.

Ladasten, a synonym of bromantane, is recorded as a registered medicinal product in the Ministry of Health's GRLS classifier under registration ЛП-№(005486)-(РГ-RU). The registration dates from 16 May 2024 and has no recorded expiry date. Registration as a medicinal product does not determine pharmacy stock, prescription-dispensing status, controlled-substance scheduling, or liability for ordinary possession.

Bromantane is not listed in Schedules I through V under 21 CFR Part 1308 and does not appear on DEA's List I and II regulated-chemicals compilation. Under 21 U.S.C. §§ 802(32) and 813, case-specific treatment as a Schedule I controlled substance analogue requires the statutory similarity conditions and intent for human consumption. This federal classification does not determine state, district, territorial, tribal, or local law, or compliance with federal food-and-drug law for products marketed for human use.

Bromantane (also known as bromantan, Ladasten, and adamantylbromphenylamine) is not listed by name, synonym, CAS number 87913-26-6, or the chemical identity N-(4-bromophenyl)adamantan-2-amine in Annexes 1–8 of the BetmVV-EDI. Its structure is not covered by an applicable generic definition in Annex 6: it is not derived from the phenethylamine scaffold required by the Phenylalkylamine entry or the phenylcyclohexylamine scaffold required by the Arylcyclohexylamine entry. Bromantane is therefore unscheduled under the BetmVV-EDI. Bromantane's unscheduled status under the BetmVV-EDI does not establish that a bromantane medicinal product may be marketed without authorization under therapeutic-products law.
