Generic structure

Adamantanes are a chemical class of organic compounds built on the rigid diamond-lattice adamantane cage, a symmetrical three-ring carbon framework, with an amine or other group attached. Members differ by the substituents on the cage. In psychoactive chemistry the family includes NMDA receptor antagonists used for their effects on cognition and movement. The compact rigid carbon cage is the defining structural feature of the class.
