Lethal Dosage

5-IT has been attributed to 14 deaths in Sweden between April and July 2012, all in young men aged 20-30. While 5-IT was the sole intoxicant in two cases, other drugs were present in the remaining twelve. Eleven non-fatal poisonings also occurred during the same period.

Cardiovascular

Acute cardiovascular effects including tachycardia and increased blood pressure occur during intoxication; these effects were noted even at relatively low doses of 20mg.

Thermoregulatory

The drug is prone to cause overheating and hyperthermia, which has been identified as a significant toxicity concern and may have contributed to reported fatalities.

Psychosis Risk

Moderate

Visual and auditory hallucinations, disorientation, agitation, restlessness, and anxiety have been reported. Aggressiveness and moodiness are also noted as negative effects.
