TH-PVP is a substituted cathinone derivative of the pyrovalerone class, structurally related to a-PVP and naphyrone. It has been sold as a designer drug and was first identified by a forensic laboratory in Hungary in 2015, subsequently appearing in Spain, Belgium, Poland, Turkey, and Brazil. Information on its effects and safety profile is limited, with little evidence of human use. It is considered habit-forming.

Pharmacology

Pharmacodynamics

TH-PVP acts as a monoamine reuptake inhibitor rather than a releasing agent, with in vitro work showing no induction of monoamine release. Reported selectivity across studies differs: one found roughly 10-fold selectivity for serotonin over norepinephrine and dopamine, while another reported comparable potency at serotonin and dopamine with pronounced selectivity for both over norepinephrine. Despite this reuptake-inhibiting activity, TH-PVP did not produce stimulant effects in animals.
