Tetrazepam
Tetrazepam is a benzodiazepine derivative with anticonvulsant, anxiolytic, muscle relaxant, and mildly hypnotic properties. It was used primarily in Austria, France, Belgium, Germany, and Spain to treat muscle spasm and anxiety disorders such as panic attacks. Tetrazepam produces relatively little sedation at low doses while retaining muscle relaxant and anxiolytic effects, and has been described as more euphoric than comparable benzodiazepines. European marketing authorisations were suspended in 2013 over cutaneous toxicity and allergic reactions.

Doses are population estimates that vary widely between individuals.
The indicated adult therapeutic dose for muscle spasm is 25 mg to 150 mg per day, increased if necessary to a maximum of 300 mg per day, in divided doses; it is not generally recommended for children except on specialist advice. Tetrazepam is only available in one strength and formulation, 50 mg tablets. Benzodiazepine equivalence: approximately 100 mg of tetrazepam = 10 mg of diazepam. It has relatively little sedative effect at low doses while still producing useful muscle relaxation and anxiety relief. Peak plasma levels are reached in less than 2 hours, and it is an intermediate-acting benzodiazepine with an elimination half-life of approximately 15 hours.

Its structure is unusual for the class in that a cyclohexenyl group replaces the 5-phenyl moiety found in other benzodiazepines.
