Mebroqualone
Mebroqualone (MBQ) is a quinazolinone depressant and an analogue of mecloqualone, from which it differs by carrying a bromine atom rather than a chlorine on the 3-phenyl ring. Originally synthesized in the 1960s, it produces sedative and hypnotic effects through GABAergic activity. It is shorter-acting and more potent than methaqualone, is considered habit-forming, and appears to have circulated as a black market designer drug in Germany.
