Phenidate
Phenidates are a chemical class of organic compounds built around a structure that joins a phenyl ring and a six-membered nitrogen-containing piperidine ring to a central carbon, which also carries an ester group, formally esters of phenyl(piperidin-2-yl)acetic acid. The prototype carries a methyl ester, while other members vary the ester group, the aromatic ring substituents, or the piperidine. Most phenidates act as stimulants through inhibition of dopamine and noradrenaline reuptake. The phenyl-piperidine-ester arrangement is the consistent structural signature of the class.
