Hexahydroazepinoindole (ibogalogs)
Ibogalogs are a chemical class of organic compounds derived from the core tryptamine structure, built on the hexahydroazepinoindole core that also underlies the iboga alkaloids. They are simplified analogues of ibogaine, retaining the indole-containing fused ring system while streamlining the larger natural scaffold. Members are studied for atypical psychedelic and potential anti-addictive properties, with a pharmacology distinct from the classical serotonergic hallucinogens. The hexahydroazepinoindole core is the defining structural feature of the class.
