5-MeO-MaLT is a psychedelic tryptamine related to 5-MeO-DALT. It was first described in the literature in 2004 and encountered as a novel designer drug in 2014. The substance remains uncommon, and its effects are likely similar to those of other psychedelic tryptamines, although little is known about it. Its pharmacology was investigated in a 2024 study comparing in vitro receptor profiles and acute in vivo effects of 5-MeO-DMT analogs.1

Pharmacodynamics

In functional studies, 5-MeO-MaLT reached up to 92% of serotonin's maximal effect at the 5-HT2A receptor, with an EC50 of 575 nM2, with activity supported by induction of the head-twitch response in rodents3. It also binds the serotonin 5-HT1A receptor with high affinity2.
