Furanolactone

Furanolactones are a chemical class of organic compounds that are terpenoids carrying fused furan and lactone rings. Members differ by the substituents around this fused ring system. The family's most notable psychoactive member is a non-nitrogenous agonist at the kappa-opioid receptor, giving it a dissociative and strongly hallucinogenic character unusual among natural products.
