1,5-Benzodiazepine
The 1,5-benzodiazepines are a chemical class of organic compounds derived from the core amine structure and are positional isomers of the classical 1,4-benzodiazepines, with the ring nitrogens at the 1- and 5-positions of the seven-membered diazepine ring. Members carry various substituents around this rearranged core. They act as positive modulators at the GABA-A receptor, showing a GABAergic pharmacology similar to the 1,4 isomers but with a distinct side-effect profile. The 1,5 nitrogen arrangement is the defining feature of the class.
